Please be advised that a general membership meeting for Unit 1 Locals 291 and 292 will be held as follows: (as usual we have done everything possible to discourage attendance by the membership.... so we don't really expect anyone to attend, but for those that do we have a full agenda this year, a NAGE First!!!.)

Livin' Large at Burgin Parkway....

Here are the top pay-outs for the NAGE luminaries at Burgin Parkway. While these fat-cats spend your dues money like drunken sailors on crapola like transfer payments to the SIEU Fight for Future!.....

You MEMBERS are ignored, cheated out of fair representation at the bargaining table, and insulted with a constant stream of give-backs, below the cost of living salary adjustments, and health-care benefit cuts....

All the while, at NAGE HQ, they are living large at your expense....

They have been laughing at you for years.... it's time to start paying attention...... vote these miscreants out!

Keep checking in, I've got plenty more opinion and information articles to be shared.... some you'll see here soon:

From the Files of the BullShit Police
In this column I'll be reviewing past issues of the the NAGE Reporter (the rag that is the preferred propaganda sheet for NAGE ).... I'll be pointing out the BULLSHIT that NAGE likes to publish and pass off for the truth .....

....... I was Working the weekend-shift out of "bunko", and I was musing on the role BS plays in our lives... We all know bullshit is a way of life in the public sector... the thing is, it's usually harmless and even entertaining... it works out because no-one is able to monopolize the discussion, BS naturally attracts those who speak up for the other point of view, people can hear both sides and make up their own mind....BS is neutralized....

........ but once in while an outfit comes along, that is so self-serving, so cowardly and corrupt..., that they have to monopolize the discourse by making sure all communication is one-way-only, via in-house propoganda organs.... They are too gutless to face the membership in an open meeting.... where they'd have to answer for what they've done..... such an outfit is NAGE.

When I see that, I have to step in and call it for what it is , that's my job, I carry a badge.

NAGE FINANCIAL Reports for DOWNLOAD

Here I'll provide all the DOL reports in convenient Excel format so you can download them and perform your own analysis.

NAGE Contract salaries adjusted for Inflation

I'll be applying the Massachusetts Implicit Price Deflator to the history of NAGE contract salary adjustments... I have a strong suspicion that I'll find we are a lot worse off today than we were 15 or twenty years ago.... since NAGE contracts just keeps getting worse under David "Judas Goat"Holway.....
.....we'll see what the NAGE give-backs have done to us in "constant dollars".... just how far down the river have you been sold?

And more......

HOW NAGE is SQUANDERING Your DUES...

Here are the top payees from FY 2005:
  1. ... a "charitable donation" for a boondoggle called "SEIU FIGHT FOR the FUTURE!"
You've got to be kidding me!..... Mass State Employees, who are being milked for the lions share of the $17 million in dues collected each year by NAGE, are funding this dopey experiment in social engineering by the SEIU international union? (by the way Sorozan just voted to increase your dues again)

We don't even get MEMBERSHIP meetings!, We don't get decent contracts, our health benefits are being constantly eroded, we get no representation of our own interests......

......yet we're paying for this political bullshit "walk-around money" for these SEIU dopes trying to organize janitors and and hotel housekeepers? Where the hell is our "community of interest" with these folks? Why are OUR DUES being sent to Washington DC to fund someone else's fight?.... when there is plenty to fight about right here in the Commonwealth?

Ranell Wilson, Janitor doesn't bother to vote! (why bother? NAGE will take of her, with your dues money, NAGE will help her with her lot in life....while you swing in the wind.) ....kind of makes you feel all warm inside doesn't it?

Would YOU have voted to spend your dues money, on that?
.... Sorozan, Farley DeCinti, and McGoldrick did.... (by the way according to the Liabilities report NAGE OWES $1.266 million to SEIU.... for what?.... more of this crap?

These incumbent jerks are more concerned with the smiling janitor (shown above..from the SEIU "Fight for the Future Web site), than they are for the people (YOU) who voted for them and pay their exorbitant salaries.

Wake up, folks vote against the incumbents and at least "blank" thsoe that are running unopposed!!!!

Don't throw that Ballot out

It's Important!!!!

Vote, but don't vote for an incumbent....

These swine have been laughing at the members for years....

....while they live-it-up at Burgin Parkway Palace like Emperors at a ROMAN ORGY, they crap on the YOU, the members ,by putting pathetic contracts before you, that are worse by far, than any other public employee contracts in the Nation!

....These self-dealing lightwieghts, have been selling you down the river with a steady stream of insulting "below the cost of living" contracts, hideous give backs on medical insurance, and Dues increases

---don't reward for these swine for putting the screws to you! They have been dealing themselves huge raises, while negotiating crapola for the YOU, the members....

Vote for Bruce LaFlamme for Vice President Block 2..... he's a long term DMR employee, intelligent, principled, and a straight shooter.....he's an independent who will work for your interests rather than Dave "Slobodan" Holway's.

Vote for Tina Mountain (I confess I don't know her, but she's NOT an incumbent and therefore she hasn't screwed us yet).... give her a shot.... anyone other than an incumbent has got to be an improvement!!!

Don't worry about the "experience" the incumbents might say they have.... the experience gained by kissing Holway's arse, is HIGHLY OVER-RATED.....

....while extreme ass kissing is a skill that has served Farley, Sorozan, and McGoldrick well (their salaries reflect it!), it is of absolutely no benefit to the membership, believe me.

......
we don't need folks with that kind of experience..... we know only too well what that gets us..... we need to broom these lackeys.

... it's going to be a long road to get out from under NAGE's boot, but we've got to start somewhere, and we need to take advantage of even "symbolic-only" opportunities.... so vote for LaFlamme and Mountain

Remember last year's Agency Xmas Party?

I remember mine.... I had to pony-up ten bucks of my own dough for the privilege of attending a lunchtime "holiday party" (in the conference room) ....

.... where I was treated (at my own expense)to cold pizza, flat soda, and a few "pot luck" dishes brought in by those too cheap to spring for the ten bucks..... sound familiar?
(Oh and not a beer or drop of alcohol to be had....)

Well that ain't a Xmas party befitting the kings of NAGE .... no sir-ree!
The members of the NAGE Ruling class at Burgin Parkway.....

Treated themselves (at your expense) to a $12,442 Xmas party for themselves (and their families?) at a posh, chi-chi, restaurant called Jasper White's Summer Shack in Cambridge , MA.....
No members invited (unless you think all OUR invitations were lost in the mail)

I'm sure they were able to have a good time for that tidy sum of YOUR DUES!!!! (no wonder they just passed a dues increase) Hey, they still have to book THIS year's party!

I'm sure Dave Holway knocked back a few drinks at that posh soiree'! Ya Think!

I bet You didn't even know you were buying rounds at Jasper's for good ole Dave.... and his court jesters Farley, Sorazon, and McGoldrick....

Do you think they had a few laughs at our expense over our stinking' 2-3% raises during a time of record high state surpluses??.... I'm guessing they did.

(I'll be calculating and posting their own astronomical rates of salary increases here soon....)

Anyway, this tidbit and many more financial details will be posted here soon for your enjoyment and downloading..... salaries, expenditures for consultants, breakdown of NAGE members by Local, Xmas parties!, etc...... all the details, in easy to analyze form!

NAGE, apparently, doesn't want you to have this info (or they'd provide it to the members in Financial Reports, right?)

I DO want you to have it....
Stay tuned Folks..... more to come.

Holway's salary obscene....

By Steve Bailey, Boston Globe Columnist | April 15, 2005
...from LaborNet news...

ANDREW STERN IS PRESIDENT of the Service Employees
International Union, the fastest-growing union in
the United States with 1.6 million members.
Ambitious and intense, Stern wants to radically remake
the labor movementby consolidating it into a few megaunions
that could have a chance of standing up to consolidating
Corporate America. "Can this man save labor?" Business Week
asked in a recent cover story. Stern's compensation,
according to the union's most recent regulatory filing: $239,511.

David Holway is president of the National Association of Government Employees, a Quincy-based SEIU local with just 46,000 members spread out over 41 states. Last year Holway's local spent about $2.3 million more than it took in, according to its annual report. That followed a net loss of about $2.2 million the year before according to minutes of a board meeting. The union's assets fell by 40 percent last year, and the union took out a $2 million line of credit, using its headquarters as collateral.
Holway's compensation, according to the union's most recent regulatory filing: $240,147.

A gruff-talking former lobbyist for NAGE, Holway sees himself as a reformer cleaning up the excesses of his predecessor, Kenneth T. Lyons, who ruled the union for 40 years before being forced out nearly four years ago over the matter of a few lunch tabs for a state official at Anthony's Pier 4. Few, though, would argue that change was overdue.

As for his compensation, Holway adopts the standard CEO defense: The board sets my salary, I don't. "My salary is set by the national executive committee. They set the benefit level," says Holway, who took over NAGE in 2002.

And a friendly committee it is. Holway makes $229,455 as president of NAGE and another $10,692 for sitting on the SEIU executive board, or $240,147 in all. By comparison, Ronald Gettelfinger, who heads the United Auto Workers, with 625,000 members, makes $151,630. Morton Bahr, who heads the Communications Workers of America, with 557,000 members, makes $195,137. John Sweeney, who heads the AFL-CIO, with 13 million members, makes $277,785. And SEIU's Local 509, which also represents state workers in Massachusetts, paid its president $65,724.

In all, 11 NAGE employees make $100,000 or more, including the union's lobbyist, who makes $193,692 in the job Holway had. Holway makes no apologies. "I am not afraid to pay for talent," he says. "I need hard-working people as smart as the people we are going up against."

Holway, 57, who has homes in Cambridge and Martha's Vineyard, says the union's deficit stems, in part, from defending lawsuits brought by Lyons and his family, a cost he said was approaching $2 million. Rather than raise dues, the board decided to "spend down the surplus," Holway says. The local's cash position shrunk from $2.4 million to less than $100,000 in the last year, according to the annual report.

There's another option: bringing NAGE's compensation in line with its peers.

Membership Rights Trampled.... Meetings DENIED!!!

WE MEMBERS SHOULD BE ASHAMED AND APPALLED at how we allow ourselves to be treated by tin-horn dictator and midget Machiavelli, Dave Holway and his hand picked gutless minions.

By the way folks..... there's an ELECTION about to happen,

We NEED to have some NEW PEOPLE step up to run in the current election, some people who will have the interests of the membership in mind and not Holway's,

.... candidates who will not be assimilated and cowed by Holway into the mold of the current vice presidents, etc....
(the highly overpaid lightweights who make up the gutless Holway rubber stamp bureau at Burgin parkway.)

If such candidates step forward, we should support them in the upcoming election..... I'll keep my eye for the ballots and keep you updated here.....

(There is at least one guy I've heard is considering a run for VICE PRESIDENT BLOCK 2........(that's DPH, DMR, and DMH) and he'd be GREAT, if he decides to run...I'm waiting to hear from him...)

Take a look at how Holway and the "Executive Board" at NAGE headquarters have cooked the "constitution" to prevent members from attending meetings and having meaningful participation in Union business.....

.....and compare it to how a true democratic union (MOSES), guarantees the rights of their members to attend meetings and mange union business.....via their constitution

The differences are STRIKING!!!! I assure you.

First, here's what the pathetic NAGE "constitution" provides for meetings: (Jesus, talk about giving bullshit a bad name!!, calling this piece of excrement a constitution)

SECTION 8.
All Local Units shall have at least one general membership meeting annually.
(Let me point out a few obvious deficiencies with this "requirement")
  • No notification requirements....
  • No agenda requirements....
  • No minutes taken or published
  • No rules of order, no procedural requirements
  • No requirement that business actually be conducted...
  • No quorum (why bother... there isn't any real business to be conducted)
  • THESE THINGS ARE NEVER SCHEDULED ANYWAY!!!(Alright, ALMOST NEVER....) -this is a JOKE on the Members
The moses web page sums up MOSES's meetings pretty well...(click the link real unions have meetings)
Participation:

Membership Meetings are held 9 times per year throughout the state
Includes dinner and social hour
(holy MOLEY! dinner and a social hour..... what did you ever get from NAGE.... NOTHING!)

Opportunity to vote on major issues and to express your opinion

Here's what the MOSES constitution provides
